After seeing the previous films, Twilight and New Moon, the only thing I was looking forward to in the third installment was some cool vampire vs. wolf CGI action. I knew I would have to sit through the same old story of Bella (Kristen Stewart), as she snaked her way back and forth between the arms of Edward (Robert Pattinson), the vampire, and Jacob (Taylor Lautner), the werewolf.

Eclipse starts off with Edward and Bella planning their future together and doing typical teen couple things, like sneaking off to make out in the shrubs. Jacob then shows up and starts stirring up the situation with plenty of drama. Bella basically tells both men that she chooses Edward, but continues to play with both of their hearts.

The tension builds a little when Edward and his vampire family discover that Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard), a vampire who will stop at nothing to kill Bella, has brought together an army and is heading to attack them. With this threat heading straight their way, Edward and Jacob have no choice but to join together to protect Bella. The Cullens, Edwards vampire family, and Jacob's werewolves band together and ready themselves for the upcoming battle. This is all despite the tensions brewing from the love triangle between Edward, Bella, and Jacob. Edward, seemingly the more mature male, tries to put all things aside to protect the one he loves. Meanwhile Jacob, who is also in love with Bella, runs around with his shirt off taking every chance he gets to make a move on her and doing everything he can to start shit with Edward. These tensions almost end badly a number of times, but Bella is always there to crack her whip. The battle comes and goes and the movie quickly gets back to the love story, but It was all pretty impressive to watch.

I would say Eclipse is a step up from the previous two films for a number of reasons. Bella isn't quite as emotional in this third movie as she was in the first two, and I think this is a big improvement to the character and the story. Bella still doesn't know what she wants, but at least this time around she isn't yelling at her dad for no reason and trying to kill herself every chance she gets. The lighting and camera work were done to perfection, and it's clear they didn't cut any corners making Eclipse. Viewers get a deeper look at the film's characters, including a few back stories, which shine some light on some of the other vampires in Edward's family.

All in all I can say I was entertained with this third movie. It would not be a bad movie to see on a date, but make sure you have seen the first two or you will be more than lost.
